The Venue - Ambon
One significant milestone in the festival's history was the declaration of Ambon as the "City of Music" on October 8, 2011, by the Maluku provincial government and the Ambon city government. This declaration recognized the city's rich musical heritage and aimed to strengthen its identity as a music hub
Over the years, the festival has also included various workshops and activities, such as the ASEAN Workshop program in 2010, which aimed to strengthen ASEAN political, economic, and cultural cooperation. Notable performances have included appearances by artists like Michael Sembello, Syaharani and The Queenfireworks, and the US Navy band Orient Express
AJPF features a diverse range of music genres beyond jazz, including hip-hop, R&B, soul, world beat, and gospel, which is why "Plus" was added to the festival's name.

Festival
The Ambon Jazz Plus Festival, also known as AJPF, is an annual event that started in 2009 in Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia. The festival was created as part of efforts to help the city recover from the socio-political conflicts that occurred between 1999 and 2005. The organizers believed that music could serve as a means to heal and bring people back to the region, promoting Ambon as "Ambon Manise" (Sweet Ambon) once again.
